[Ellie doesn't bother to hide the fond note in her voice. Tess has come to be very, very important to her.]

[Ellie gives her knee a light smack and checks the fridge, then shuts it, crossing her arms.]

[Ellie plants her hands on her narrow hips and gives her a look.]

Fine. But you're gonna help me. Let's make an omelet.

[She hops down then goes into the fridge to pull out eggs and...some random stuff. At least she's good enough to not grab the bacon.]

[Setting things down, she decides to try something and opens a cabinet that has a bowl and concentrates on it. Sure enough, she manages to get a bowl to come floating out of the cabinet and onto the counter. Sure it drops the last half inch or so but the point is...]

BOOSH! I did it!

[Ellie actually jumps when the bowl floats out and down, take a quick step back before she notices Riley's look of intense concentration.]

Fuck, this is gonna be hard to get used to.

[She grabs some eggs so she can crack them in a bowl.]

Okay, here-

[Ellie tosses her a whisk while she goes to grab cheese, milk and vegetables to put into the omelet, starts heating up a skillet.]

Have you been messing around with it a lot?

[Mixing the eggs, she grins at her.]

Hell yeah. Mostly with moving rocks around when I go wandering around. Oh and I was messing with bullets while you were showering once. That was pretty cool.

Okay, break this down for me. Messing with bullets?

[She doesn't follow, but she slaps a bit of butter into the pan, looking at her questioningly.]

Well I was going to be the amazing mind juggler but it mostly turned into me tossing them onto my pillow instead.

[She slides the eggs over to her.]

[Ellie pours them into the skillet, hands Riley a few vegetables to cut up.

Yeah, they should probably wash their hands, but Ellie forgets about that a lot.]

You think that you could get things like rocks going fast enough to drop somebody?

[Annnd there's something that's changed. Ellie realizes it a second later; Riley's never watched her be particularly ruthless outside of the heat of the moment.]

Probably. I'd have to work on. I'm thinking I could get them to move like a bullet. Whoosh, whack! Down with the bad guy.

[She eats some of the veggies as she cuts them up to slide them over to Ellie to throw in the pan. She's not that concerned about the ruthless thing, really she's not.]

It'll be fucking awesome.

[The tension between her shoulders relaxes when Riley doesn't seem put off by it.]

It is. Gonna be awesome. I mean, it's a really lucky power. Nobody's gonna be able to lay a finger on you.

[Since it's this fucking cool, that clearly means that Riley is down for practicing with it.]

[Ellie reaches for the grater and goes to town over the skillet, beaming.]

So yeah, just practice like crazy. You want some company?

[Ellie steals a larger cube of the cheese from Riley's fingers, popping it in her own mouth with a grin.]

[She grins at her then takes another piece of cheese for herself. It does help that she's used to calling Ellie her girl so it's easy to be confident about that.]
